Arts Center

This project was for comprehensive studio, so the goal was to create a realistic, standing building with appropriate egress, access, and framing system. My building revolves around a central courtyard that anchors the building and provides a space where people can gather for potlucks, parties, concerts, etc. The building is four stories with a post and beam mass timber structural system. Because it is a mass timber building, the columns are closer together, at a 15’ x 30’ spread. The facade has apertures that are partially shaded with a panel and a colored screen, which creates a colorful glow on the face of the building while preventing any significant passive heat gain.
